Why Americash Jewelry and Coin Buyers Loves Wheaton

Wheaton is a suburban city and the county seat of Dupage County, Illinois. Located roughly 30 miles west of Chicago, Wheaton is the 27th most populous municipality in Illinois. But this town has a lot more to offer than 11.5 square miles of land. Here are some of the best qualities of this beautiful location:

Higher Learning

Wheaton College, commonly known as “The Harvard of Evangelical schools,” is located just east of downtown Wheaton. This university is an interdenominational school for devout Christian students seeking a top-of-the-line liberal arts education.

The campus features a museum dedicated to both the history of American evangelism and the international ministry of Billy Graham. Named the Billy Graham Center, the museum and student center highlights Graham’s successes, who is the most famous alumnus of Wheaton College.

Wheaton College also features the Beamer Student Center, which was dedicated in 2004 to the memory of Todd Beamer, a hero from United Airlines Flight 93, and two other Wheaton alumni who died in the September 11 attacks.

It’s not all about Wheaton College, however. College of DuPage educates community college students throughout the state and the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology is also located in Wheaton. Home to the School of Applied Technology, the Illinois Institute of Technology offers tech-based educational training for both students and working professionals.

Rich History

Wheaton has a fascinating history, as well. In the 1830s, following the Indian Removal Act, Erastus Gray laid claim to 790 acres of land (near present-day Warrenville). In 1837, the Wheaton brothers (Warren and Jesse) laid claim to an additional 940 acres of land, as well. Warren Wheaton then went on to serve as the village’s first President on February 24, 1859.

Great Activities

Wheaton is home to plenty of amazing recreational activities — especially during the summer! For Chicagoans who enjoy the finer things of life, Wheaton is great for horse racing and golfing. The Chicago Golf Club — located in Wheaton — is actually the first 18-hole golf course in the United States!
