Have a Memorial Day Family Picnic at These Local Westmont, IL Parks
If you’re planning a Memorial Day picnic, the Westmont area is an ideal destination. This city has lots of picturesque parks packed with amenities that will entertain your family all afternoon. You can rent a pavilion to secure your spot or snag a free table on a first-come-first-served basis. Most of the local parks also have ample green space where you can put down a blanket for your al fresco meal.
Ty Warner Park
Ty Warner Park offers plenty of highlights, including a playground, disc golf, zip line, fishing, sports fields, and a walking path. This park is also home to the popular Spray Park, which opens for the season on Memorial Day. The Spray Park features water cannons, misters, water walls, dumping buckets, and spray spouts for hours of fun. This is the ideal spot for a kid-friendly family fun day.
You can rent the Spray Park Cabana with two picnic tables for up to 20 children and four adults, giving your family a designated spot to gather and relax. You can even add a pizza to your rental so food is handled for you. The concession stand also sells hot dogs, soft pretzels, popcorn, candy, and soda. If this isn’t enough for your picnic, you’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks as well.
Standard admission to the Spray Park is $4 per resident child and $6 per non-resident child. Adults get in for free to accompany their kids.
If you’d prefer to picnic outside the Spray Park, you can rent the James M. Long Pavilion for up to 250 people. The pavilion features picnic tables, trash cans, and grills. The Ty Warner Gazebo accommodates up to 50 people and features picnic tables and trash cans.

Hours: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. During summer, the Spray Park is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
Lions Park
Lions Park is a spacious 2.2-acre green space equipped with a playground, horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court, and an open play area. The park offers seasonal indoor restrooms as well. The comfortable Lions Park pavilion is conveniently situated beside the playground, so you can let kids run off their energy while the adults relax over lunch. The pavilion can accommodate up to 50 and has trash cans and picnic tables.

Hours: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Veterans Memorial Park
Ideal for a day of fun in the sun, Veterans Memorial Park has two playgrounds, a zip line for children aged 5 to 10, baseball fields, a sand volleyball court, and a walking path. Covering 10 acres, there’s plenty of room for families to spread out and picnic on the soft grassy areas.
You can also rent the Diane Main Pavilion for up to 200 guests for a larger event. The pavilion has trash cans and picnic tables. Due to construction, the Park has closed the restrooms for the 2023 season, but there are port-o-johns for those who rent the pavilion.
If you want a hot, fresh meal for your picnic, The Sweet & Savory Spot is just a four-minute walk from the park. This homey local restaurant serves burgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches, salads, mac and cheese, chili, fries, potato salad, and more. If you just need dessert, stroll over to the Tasty Treat for ice cream.

Diane Main Park
Diane Main Park caters to visitors of all ages with a playground, tennis courts, sports fields, and a sand volleyball court. If your party is interested in more leisurely activities, the park also has a walking path and fishing ponds. The restrooms are open seasonally.
Diane Main Park has a cozy picnic pavilion you can rent for parties of up to 75 people. There are picnic tables, trash cans, and charcoal grills so you can prepare a delicious hot feast. The Twin Lakes Golf Club is adjacent to the park if you’d like to hit the links after your Memorial Day picnic.

Smith Woods
Smith Woods covers 18 acres of charming green space. You can explore the walking trail, visit the playground with the kids, or play a game on the sand volleyball court. The park also features plenty of grassy areas that are ideal for spreading out a blanket and having a sprawling picnic on the ground.
If you prefer tables, the Sandra Smith Pavilion is available to rent for up to 50 people. This pavilion has picnic tables, trash cans, and a charcoal grill. The park also offers seasonal restrooms.

Bellerive Park
At Bellerive Park, you’ll find a skate park, soccer fields, flag football fields, a playground, and walking paths. If you want to entertain teenagers as well as younger children, this park is an ideal option. The Bellerive Park Pavilion is available for rent and accommodates up to 50 people. Booking this gives you access to restrooms, trash cans, picnic tables, and a charcoal grill.
If you’re looking for something simpler than grilling out, you can walk to Papa Passero’s in less than 10 minutes. This restaurant serves pizzas, calzones, pasta, BBQ ribs, broasted chicken, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, and more. You can pick up something to suit any craving for your al fresco meal just down the street.

Hours: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The skate park hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. the rest of the year.
